In early 2025, I was laid off from a engineering position where I helped sell AI solutions to businesses. Since I was close to retirement age I thought it was time to spend my remaining productive years doing something that I love and was meaningful to me.
Since I've had a longstanding interest in native plantings, prairie conservation and handcrafts, I dove headlong into education on the midwestern prairie ecosystems, applying my love for making jewelry and textiles along the way. The result, so far, is what you see in the shop.
Of course, I don't do all of this work on my own. My sister, Patricia, is generously providing her garden space and botanical printing expertise from her home in Beatrice, Nebraska. I'm fortunate to share her interest in gardening and printing. Long days removing weeds, maintaining plantings, and steaming botanicals onto natural fibers are made a little shorter thanks to our shared sense of humor.
My partner, Jeff, is a masterful woodworker. We have a shared space in the lower level of our home in Omaha, Nebraska. You will see his prairie-style clocks, pens, etc displayed here as well. His patience and eye for detail are evident in all of his work.
My hope is that you will enjoy the prairie style artwork and pick up on that prairie vibe: an appreciation for the beauty that our prairies provide and a desire to sustain the viability of our natural resources.
